RACIST ATHLETE, SPONSORED BY SAMSUNG HELLAS, P & G, HATES BLACKS, AFRICANS, CONNECTED TO THE NEONAZI PARTY OF GOLDEN DAWN, KICKED OUT OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES

@xstefanou We respect the NOC decision. We’re terminating our assoc. w/ Ms Papachristou. Her comments don’t reflect the opinions of P&G.
— Procter & Gamble (@ProcterGamble) July 25, 2012

Redneck Voula Papachristou, a state-subsidized athlete from the Greek taxpayers sponsored by Samsung Hellas, wrote in her twitter account that "No doubt West Nile mosquitoes (ed. carrying the West Nile virus) have a lot to be fed upon. With so many Africans in Greece they are going to eat lots of homemade food".... After the ensuing media backlash she canceled her twitter account, apologized, claiming she's just an athlete (translation: Let me grab whatever money I can get from the 2012 London Olympic Games and run)...
Why the Greek taxpayers and the London organization committee would allow this Neonazi idiot jumper represent the ideal of Olympic Games and the Hellenic culture and civilization  in London????? IT'S A SHAME!

*Update: The Neonazi supporting-"athlete", sponsored by SAMSUNG HELLAS and many others, has been shown the exit, booted,  from the Hellenic Team that participates in the London Olympic Games, around 2pm GMT, today. Journalists supporting the Neonazi party in Greece are crying foul...
In snapshots from her Twitter account the "athlete"-paid handsomely by the Greek taxpayers with millions of euros so far-congratulates Holocaust-denier, Neonazi party spokesperson Elias Kasidiaris on his "achievements" (Kasidiaris is pictured in a photo below with Waffenn SS insignia in London), retweets his interviews etc.

  1. The Nazi SS were judged a criminal organization by the Nuremberg Tribunal (November 20, 1945 to October 1, 1946). The Waffen SS were the death squad of the Nazi SS, a criminal organization. Supporting, or promoting, a criminal organization, directly, or indirectly, that caused death, grief, despair, and millions of deaths of innocent children and adults, civilians and soldiers, poor and wealthy, Americans and Europeans, Communists and Social Democrats, Jews, Jehovah's Witnesses, Gypsies, clergymen, homosexuals, and people critical of the Nazi government regardless of political orientation and race, in Europe, in World War II,  has nothing to do with local politics but with respecting values like human dignity, integrity, morals and your very own history and, essentially, yourself.
  2. Greek Neonazi party members of GOLDEN DAWN have been photographed, depicted, sketched, written, interviewed, and vehemently expressed in the last 10 years their support for the SS, a criminal organization, and, particularly, the Waffen SS, the « ..elite death squad » of a criminal organization.
  3. Αn EU special envoy has been send to Greece to investigate if the Neonazi party of Golden Dawn, financed nowadays in the tune of millions euros by cash-strapped taxpayers thanks to a legal loophole, violates basic human rights, the Constitution of Hellenic Democracy, promotes racism etc.
  4. Taxpayers have no obligation whatsoever to support, financially and professionally, racist, fascist and neonazi “athletes”.

SUPPORT THE VICTIMS OF AURORA AND THEIR FAMILIES PSYCHOLOGICALLY AND FINANCIALLY

Thanks to CBS Denver, a full list of those killed in the shooting gives us an idea of who they were.
They include two active duty military personnel, a redheaded spitfire, a true Texas gentleman, and a 6-year-old girl who had just learned how to swim.

Jon T. Blunk, 26
Enlisted in the Navy, he served in the Persian Gulf and North Arabian Sea over three tours and was planning to re-enlist in order to become a Navy SEAL. He was also a certified firefighter and medical technician. He was shot and killed after putting his body in front of friend Jansen Young and telling her to get down. She survived the attack.

Alexander J. Boik, 18
A high school baseball player and orchestra member who tried to bring back the mullet. He was headed to Rocky Mountain College of Art in the fall and planned on becoming an art teacher.

Jesse E. Childress, 29
An Air Force cyber-systems operator who is remembered by colleagues as respectful and always positive.

Gordon W. Cowden, 51
Described as a “true Texas gentleman” by his family, he was at the screening as a chaperone for his two teenage children. They were unharmed.

Jessica N. Ghawi, 24
The young sports reporter whose Twitter feed and blog have fascinated over the past few days, especially her account of escaping a similar shooting in Canada. She went by Redfield professionally and interned with Mile High Sports Radio in Denver.

John T. Larimer, 27
A member of the Navy who had joined just over a year ago. He was a cryptologic technician.

Matthew R. McQuinn, 27
McQuinn had moved to Aurora last fall with girlfriend Samantha Yowler. He died after shielding her and her older brother from the shooter. Yowler is still recovering from being shot in the knee; her brother Nick wasn’t hurt.

Micayla C. Medek, 23
A student at Aurora Community College with a job at a Subway, she was a huge Green Bay Packers fan who was described as “a very loving person” by her family.

Alex M. Sullivan, 26
Celebrating his birthday and 1st wedding anniversary at the screening, he was a big comic book geek and loved movies so much that he worked in theaters just to see them.

Veronica Moser Sullivan, 6
The youngest of the victims who had just learned how to swim. Her mother Ashley is still hospitalized with gun shots to the neck and abdomen.

Alexander C. Teves, 24
Trying to become a psychiatrist, he earned his Masters in counseling psychology this June from the University of Denver. His grandfather said Alexander was known for making friends quickly.

Rebecca Ann Wingo, 32
Wingo was described by a co-worker as always being in a good mood, having a bubbly personality and friendly with everyone.
There are also, of course, dozens more recovering in hospitals and dozens more who helped get people out of harm’s way, including law enforcement officials of every suit. There are also many who have donated to funds for the victims’ families.

It might seem like this kind of information doesn’t belong on a movie website – that the location of the attack was ancillary. Then again, it might be that simply by choosing that space and that particular collective experience that it’s affected the way we view the safety and escapism of the cinema.
Either way, I think we can all agree that their names (and the names of the others who acted out of courage that day) deserve every drop of ink and every byte of digital space that anyone can give, especially if it means
not giving it to the killer.

MASTER MARTIAL ARTS CHOREOGRAPHER YUEN WO PING ON THE CHANGING FACE OF ACTION CINEMA

(....) If you were programming this festival, which three or four films would you choose to best present your work in Hong Kong cinema?

Drunken Master would be number one, Tiger Cage at number two, Iron Monkey at number three. Tiger Cage is quite unique because it has a contemporary setting, rather than being a costume drama. Another favourite of mine is calledThe Miracle Fighters, but Western audiences might struggle to identify with that because it's a very Chinese story. It uses a lot of Chinese mythology, but if I made it today I would probably use a lot of CGI. But in those days - the early eighties - everything was very primitive compared with today.

In the CGI age it is much easier to make non-fighters appear like they can fight very well and is changing the role of the fight choreographer. How have you incorporated CGI into your work and how is it changing the way films are made?

CGI is definitely a good thing and we should give credit to it, but it shouldn't be used to replace fight choreography. Instead it should work the other way, we should take advantage of it. For example if there is a fight scene that an actor is unable to do, simply because of human limitations, then you can use a little CGI sparingly to polish the sequence and give some extra energy or spectacle.

AURORA MOVIE THEATER MASSACRE WITH 12 DEAD, 71 INJURED. A DARK DAY FOR AMERICA AND THE SEVENTH ART....

Massacre suspect James Holmes apprehended by Aurora police.
MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts spoke with Tanner Coon, a young man who was inside the Colorado movie theater where suspected shooter James Holmes opened fire on audience members who had come to watch a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises.
Tanner, who recalls sitting in the fourth row from the top, says he didn’t see the shooter enter. The attack began, he shared, with a canister releasing smoke into the theater. Initially, he had thought it was a smoke bomb an audience member had brought along as a prank. Similarly, he had thought the initial gunshots were fireworks. Once he realized what was happening, Tanner and his friends hit the floor, trying to remain hidden as dozens of gunshots rang out above them. He described the shooting as being “sporadic” and “horrific.”

After the Aurora tragedy  journalist and deadline. com founder, editor-in-chief
Nikki Finke writes that she complained and
WARNERS pulled out "loose" GANGSTER SQUAD  trailer from movie theaters

(...)This morning I called on Warner Bros to take this trailer down immediately. The studio’s response to me? “There’s a meeting about this and then a decision will be reached.” I just received the call that the trailer is being pulled.
But only after I complained

And yet movie moguls wonder why so much of the country hates Hollywood values where money trumps everything, even during the Aurora theater shooting tragedy. Here’s the horrible clip which no one at Warner Bros should have allowed to be made, much less released, in the first place:

BEAUTIFUL GREECE: TIMELAPSE VIDEO BY STIAN DECAL

The original video is 4K. This is a compressed version. Thank you, Stian,

RIP: 2 YEARS FROM THE MURDER OF JOURNALIST AND BLOGGER SOCRATES GKIOLIAS

....Two years ago, on July 19th 2010, blogger and journalist Socrates Gkiolias was gunned down with 16 bullets by two unknown hitsmen  in front of his house in Helioupolis (Suncity), in the south suburbs of Athens. Greek police never found the killers.
Gkiolias was the founder and editor-in-chief of, now defunct, troktiko(the rodent) .blogspot.com and father of two children. He was instrumental, as the guiding force of the most popular blogspot, to expand the appeal of blogging and freedom of expression in Greece.
The murder of a professional journalist, regardless if he was considered controversial in some circles or not, in a  Banana Republic  "European" capital with sixteen bullets  is a big issue that local authorities, as well as journalists'unions and professional associations, refused to face seriously and resolve so far.
(Most people have the ephemeral memory of a goldfish. I, and countless others, don't).

In my film "DECEMBER RIOTS", some of the blogspots of troktiko related to the murder of 15 year-old student Alexandros Gregoropulos by two policemen in an Athens downtown cafe, are reproduced on the big screen as a long-standing, enduring farewell to the memory of Socrates Gkiolias, the troktiko blogspot, and its massive effort for freedom of expression...

Unlike Greece, the US  Newseum, in Washington D.C. honored Gkiolias as one of the fallen journalists around the globe in the line of duty...

JUSTICE FOR 16.000 INNOCENT MURDERED JEWS

WANTED: JUSTICE FOR 16,000 INNOCENT MURDERED JEWS

DEMAND: NAZI WAR CRIMINAL LASLO CSATARY STAND TRIAL PROMPTLY IN HUNGARY

JOIN: SWC PROTEST TO HUNGARIAN PRIME MINISTER VICTOR ORBÁN
Two days ago, Ladislaus “Laszlo” Csatary, the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s#1 most wanted Nazi war criminal was found living in Budapest based on information provided by the Center.

Between 1941-1944, Csatary a senior police officer, beat, brutalized and sent 16,000 Jews to their deaths in the Ukraine and Auschwitz. He perpetrated his evil deeds in thecity of Kosice, where, in 1944, Hungarian authorities transferred thousands of Hungarian Jews to German control and transport to the Auschwitz death camp.Adolf Eichmann, the architect of the Final Solution, personally visited there in late April 1944 to supervise the campaign to destroy Europe’s lost Jewish community. The total hopelessness is mirrored in these desperate words from a Kosice Jew awaiting his death enroute from Hungary to Auschwitz:
"I am afraid I cannot stand it for long, for we are suffering beyond description. We lie in the dust, have neither straw mattresses nor covers, and will freeze to death. The place is sealed, I do not see any way out.... We are so neglected, that we do not look human anymore. There is no possibility for cleaning anything. We have not taken of four clothes since coming here. Best greetings to you all, pray for us that we shall die soon."
Today in Israel, during a meeting with Hungary’s President Janos Ader, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned, “There is concern in Israel and the Jewish world over a resurgence of anti-Semitism in Hungary…such a dangerous phenomenon must be uprooted before it can spread.”One of the most effective ways to combat the rising wave of anti-Semitism, and extremism in Hungary is to put on trial a Hungarian who embraced anti-Semitic, genocidal hate a generation ago. His trial will serve as a warning for young people attracted to Hungary’s extreme far-right.

Join the Center’s protest to Hungary’s Prime Minister to demand justice for yesterday’s victims and to send a clear message to today’s anti-Semites.

The passage of time in no way diminishes the guilt of the killers, and old age should not afford protection for Holocaust perpetrators.

THE FACTS:
· In 1948, Csatary was convicted in absentia in Czechoslovakia for war crimes andsentenced to death

· He escaped to Canada and lived under an assumed identity working as an art dealer

· He fled Canada when he was discovered in 1997 while the Canadian government was building a case for his deportation

· He was discovered in Budapest almost a year ago after SWC Chief Nazi Hunter Dr. Efraim Zuroff received a tip through 'Operation Last Chance'

· Dr. Zuroff submitted information on his whereabouts and crimes to the Hungarian prosecutors in September 2011

· Last week Zuroff provided the chief prosecutor in Budapest new details on Csatary’s crimes and victims

· There is no commitment that the case on the aging accused Nazi will be expedited

The Greek Crisis Explained, Trilogy Edit from NOMINT on Vimeo.
...Once upon a time in a Southeastern Mediterranean country, Greece was a little girl and  had a little white sheep named "Economy" that she was schleping down the shoreline with much fun.  They both ate lots of ice cream on money borrowed  from lenders. After a 2010 major hiccup  the little sheep transformed into a carnivorous zombie (economy) that gulped down tiny Greece and was ready to eat EU for main course. But then superhero IMF came to the rescue???... Can Greece be saved from the belly of the beast?

MASTER STORYTELLER WALTER HILL REMAKES WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE

The master filmmaker behind The WarriorsSouthern Comfort48 HrsStreets of FireBrewster’s Millions and Red HeatTrespass and Last Man Standing and producer of the ALIEN franchise returns with A BULLET TO THE HEAD and a remake of Robert Aldrich's classic Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?
Source: MIKE FLEMING, DEADLINE.COM
BREAKINGWalter Hill, who most recently wrapped the Sylvester Stallone-starrer Bullet To The Head, has partnered with The Aldrich Company to develop a remake of the 1962 Bette Davis-Joan Crawford classic What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? Hill will write the script and direct the film. The original was directed and produced by Robert Aldrich, with Lukas Heller adapting the Henry Farrell novel.
Walter Hill What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?Warner Bros will release Bullet To The Head in February and Hill sparked to the idea of re-creating the nightmarish relationship between two sisters in a crumbling Hollywood mansion, where former child star Jane Hudson (Davis) holds captive her crippled former movie-queen sister (Crawford). “The two equal leads demand great performers — that is a given,” Hill said. “The intensity of the Gothic storyline makes a reconfiguration of the drama still a potentially searing experience. The idea is to make a modern film without modernizing the period. It needs to resonate the golden age of Hollywood.”

REDDIT FOUNDER UNDERSTANDS BETTER THE POWER OF THE FREEDOM OF THE OPEN INTERNET

I have been fascinated by Reddit for a while, but I can’t say that I really get it. Anarchic, strange and un-designed—like a Craigslist of ideas—I find stuff there occasionally, but I am not an actual Redditor.
Reddit gained a lot of visibility as the staging area for the remarkably successful protests against the remarkably short-sighted SOPA/PIPA legislation, and it is bound to be a significant force in battling CISPA and whatever else challenges the sovereignty of the free internet down the road. But what has really clued me in to what the site—and the values it represents—are all about, are these videos of founder Alexis Ohanian just published on the THNKR channel on YouTube.

BARCLAYS LIBOR-RIGGING SCANDAL BIGGEST FINANCIAL FRAUD IN HISTORY. OVER 300 TRILLIONS IN UNITED STATES DOLLARS. UK, THE WORLD'S NO 1 EXPORTER IN FINANCIAL FRAUDS AND PHONE-HACKING.

The news on Wednesday that cities and states are suing some of the world's largest banks over Libor manipulation shows how this scandal could blow up into one of history's biggest bank frauds.
That's because interest-rate manipulation might well have kept your town or state from hiring firefighters or teachers, from paving roads or paying for indigent care or after-school programs for your kids -- adding to the human suffering of the economic collapse these same banks caused in the first place.
If it's any consolation, the lawsuits and fines over this manipulation could potentially cost the banks -- which include not only Barclays but Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and many more -- billions of dollars.

6 FILMMAKING TIPS FROM MICHAEL HANEKE

Earlier in the year, Michele Haneke became the 7th director in history to win more than one Palme d’Or at Cannes. The record for most Palme d’Or wins is now a seven-way tie.
The writer/director’s work is often enigmatic or experimental, but he’s also crafted stories that plumb the dramatic depths of loving relationships and extensively explored the beauty of music. From The Seventh Continent to Lovehe’s made us question our role as viewers, challenged concepts of freedom and security, and did it all by making entertaining films. Some of which involve pig slaughter.
So here’s a bit of free film school (for fans and filmmakers alike) from the man who turned Jean-Luc Godard’s most famous quote upside down.

Funny and Horrifying Can Be The Same Thing

“There are many scenes [in The Piano Teacher] that are both terrible and horrifying for the spectator and funny at the same time. There are really two types of laughter on the part of the spectator. There is the laughter of recognition – which means seeing things you’re familiar with and laughing at yourself. But there’s also hysterical laughter – a way of dealing with the things we see that upset us. This is also the case in our everyday lives: we turn to laughter as an escape valve.”

Mess With Your Audience Visually

“We’re used, from TV, to scenes giving immediate information, so that the viewer thinks ‘I’ve seen it. I understand it. Next,’ and you never really get to the point of having a particular sensitivity to the situation. . . If you want to move someone, then you have to play with their visual habits, with what they’re used to seeing.”
Breaking the fourth wall is nothing new, but the moment in Funny Games when Paul (Arno Frisch) looks over his shoulder and winks right into the camera is terribly unsettling, not just because of what’s happening to one of the characters, but because of how brazenly Haneke is acknowledging the audience’s presence. It’s something we’re not used to.
That’s one example of many, and there are a lot of different ways to shake convention, but the key is not to deliver the same rhythms we’re used to. Don’t be afraid to shake the audience up.

Draw Scenes From Your Slaughter-Filled, Sheltered Childhood

You Need an Audience, But Not at the Cost of Your Principles

“If a director says he doesn’t care how many people see his films at all, I simply don’t believe him. Otherwise why would he bother to make the film? The only explanation would be that it would be an act of masturbation. I think that every creator is looking for a receptor. He’s looking for an audience. There are two parts of the equation: a creator and, necessarily, the receiver of the work. It’s the same thing for a painter who wants his paintings to be seen. However, if you betray your principles in the hopes of reaching a wider audience, then that’s as fatal as betraying your belief. Even the most elitist director or author who claims that he doesn’t care if his works are seen or not, then I have to think that he’s either a liar or a hypocrite. ”
Creation is the first step in a two-step process. Getting eyes and ears on your work is the fulfillment of why it was created – and it’s easy to see why a provocateur like Haneke believes this – but there’s a balance. It feels incredible to see a huge audience experience what you’ve made, but if you’ve gained a larger audience by sacrificing your ideals, you’re not really showing them your work after all. Definitely an interesting concept.
In the same interview, Haneke claims that books and movies are boring if they don’t leave the viewer or reader with questions to wrestle with. Unsurprisingly, a lot of his answers in interviews seem to achieve just that.

Every Film Rapes the Viewer

“I believe that the purpose of drama is not to let you go home feeling reassured. That was never its purpose, even as far back as the Greek tragedies. Every film is manipulative, raping the viewer. So the question is: Why do I rape the viewer? I try to rape him into being reflective, and into being intellectually independent and seeing his role in the game of manipulation. I believe in his intelligence. At its best, film should be like a ski jump. It should give the viewer the option of taking flight, while the act of jumping is left up to him.”
Michael Haneke will grab you by the ears, and you will know something.
By now, his attitude toward the audience is obvious, but it raises a great question about how safely you’re playing it as a storyteller. When this interviewer asks about Haneke’s pride in seeing people walk out of his movies, he talks briefly about the dichotomy of viewers. The oversimplified breakdown is between those who want to be slapped and have their perceptions challenged, and those that see movies strictly to have their views and ideas reinforced. Are you afraid of people leaving the theater, or do you relish the idea of thinning the herd to those who accept the challenge you might give them?

WHY SERBOCROATIAN GENIUS NICOLA TESLA, WHO INVENTED ALMOST EVERYTHING, WAS THE GREATEST GEEK EVER LIVED

JULY 10TH WAS INTERNATIONAL TESLA DAY
PLEAS FOLLOW  THE LINK TO READ THE COMIC
http://theoatmeal.com/comics/tesla
Additional notes from the author:
  • If you want to learn more about Tesla, I highly recommend reading Tesla: Man Out of Time
  • Also, this Badass of the week by Ben Thompson is what originally inspired me to write a comic about Tesla. Ben's also got a book out which is packed full of awesome.
  • There's an old movie from the 80s on Netflix Instant Queue right now about Tesla: The Secret of Nikola Tesla. It's corny and full of bad acting, but it paints a fairly accurate depiction of his life.
  • The drunk history of Tesla is quite awesome, too.
  • History.com has a great article about Edison and how his douchebaggery had a chokehold on American cinema.
  • X-rays: just to clarify, Tesla did not discover x-rays, but he was one of the early pioneers in its research.
  • Cryogenic engineering: I'm referring to the cryogenic engineering that has to do with using liquified air to cool a coil and reduce its electrical resistance (Patent No. 11,865), not freezing people and waking them up in the future so they can fight Wesley Snipes.
  • Transistor: Tesla's influence on the modern transistor can be found in patents 723,188 and 725,605. (a better explanation here)
  • Radio: Tesla was the nicest geek ever until he decided to sue Marconi a few years later. 8 months after Tesla died, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Marconi's patents on the invention of radio. So Tesla eventually won that battle, although he was dead by then.
  • Tesla VS Edison: I could write a novel on the differences between Tesla and Edison, but seeing as how this comic is already huge I decided to leave many things out. For instance, Edison killed cats and dogs, but Tesla loved animals and had a cat as a child. Originally Tesla wanted to be a poet, but after getting zapped by static electricity from his kitty he was inspired to study the effects of electricity. One could vaguely construe that Tesla's cat was responsible for the second industrial revolution, which arguably makes it the most awesome cat who ever lived.
Edison believed that fossil fuels were the future and that there were enough resources in South America to provide for the next 50,000 years. Tesla believed that renewable energy sources like hydroelectric, solar, and wind power were the future. This is remarkable because in the 1890s there was no such thing as "going green," so Tesla's ideas on conservation were very forward-thinking at the time.
  • Lastly, a big thank you to Jane C. Daugherty for proofreading this article for me. If you want to learn things from the most awesome librarian this side of the North American tectonic plate, follow her on Twitter.
