"Στο Αστυνομικό Τμήμα των Εξαρχείων ήταν γνωστός με το παρατσούκλι «Ράμπο». Ψηλός, γεροδεμένος με εκρηκτικό χαρακτήρα λόγω της μανιάτικής καταγωγής του, ο Επαμεινώνδας Κορκονέας, θεωρείτο από τους σκληρούς ειδικούς φρουρούς με ιδιαίτερα υπερβολικές αντιδράσεις στην υπηρεσία που υπηρετούσε. Το γεγονός ότι είχε περάσει από τις ειδικές δυνάμεις του Στρατού, ως καταδρομέας και αλεξιπτωτιστής, ενώ είχε «κάνει» και στη σχολή πολέμου, τον έκαναν ιδιαίτερα μάχιμο με ειδικότητα στο χειρισμό των όπλων.Γεννημένος στις 12.12.1971 στην Καλαμάτα με καταγωγή από τη μεσσηνιακή Μάνη, ο ειδικός φρουρός που πυροβόλησε και σκότωσε τον...15χρονο μαθητή Αλέξανδρο – Ανδρέα Γρηγορόπουλο,, ήθελε από μικρός να γίνει αστυνομικός. «Ήταν το όνειρο του. Ήθελε να γίνει κάτι ανάμεσα σε «βρώμικο Χάρι» και «Τζών Ράμπο» λέει στο protothema.gr άνθρωπος που τον γνωρίζει καλά και προσθέτει «Όταν το 1999, με την πρώτη φουρνιά πέρασε στους ειδικούς φρουρούς, το όνειρο του έγινε πραγματικότητα. Αμέσως μετά, τοποθετήθηκε στο Α.Τ. Εξαρχείων όπου παρέμεινε μέχρι σήμερα».Παντρεμένος και πατέρας τριών ανήλικων παιδιών ηλικίας 6,4 και 2 ετών, οι πληροφορίες λένε πως είχε τον τελευταίο χρόνο ανοίξει «βεντέτα» με τους αντιεξουσιαστές των Εξαρχείων. «Τον περασμένο Ιανουάριο, πάλι στην οδό Μεσολογγίου, πάλι με το περιπολικό ήρθε σε αντιπαράθεση με τους αναρχικούς. Μάλιστα, το περιπολικό έπαθε μικρές ζημιές και ο ίδιος λίγη ώρα αργότερα, ξαναπέρασε από το σημείο για να επιβάλλει την τάξη» λέει συνάδελφος του 37χρονου ειδικού φρουρού και προσθέτει «Και πριν δύο – τρεις μήνες τον περασμένο Σεπτέμβριο δηλαδή, είχε και πάλι προκληθεί μικροένταση με τους αντιεξουσιαστές στο ίδιο σημείο».Ο συγκεκριμένος ειδικός φρουρός μάλιστα, που φαινομενικά έδειχνε να κάνει καλή δουλειά είχε τιμηθεί και με εύφημο μνεία από τους ανωτέρους του, ενώ αρκετές φορές είχε έρθει σε κόντρα με τους προϊσταμένους του καθώς διαφωνούσε με την τακτική τους οι αστυνομικοί να μην προκαλούν και να μην αντιπαρατίθενται με τους αντιεξουσιαστές.

Ten minutes later one of the cops returned to the spot pulled his gun and shot a 16-year-old guy twice in cold blood. The victim was moved to Evangelismos Hospital to be found dead. According to eye-witnesses, the cop had been swearing against the young man, showing his genitals, before shooting him.
In a spontaneous response, thousands of people gathered in the centers of most of Greek cities. In Athens, people gathered outside Evangelismos Hospital, in order to prevent the cops from entering the building. A little later the riot police attacked in a street in Exarchia resulting to one person being arrested. The evening in Athens evolved with a spontaneous assembly in the Polytechnic University, a lot of riots in the whole center of Athens [photos 1] [photos 2] including attacks against police departments and banks, until the early hours of the next morning. Meanwhile, a spontaneous demonstration took place, but it was confronted by the riot police with tear gas. Three more University building, the Economic, the Pantion and the Law School have been occupied.
Rallies, demonstrations, direct actions and riots took place all around the country. In Thessaloniki, a big spontaneous demonstration took place, while 2 Police Departments were attacked, several bank departments were burnt and Egnatia str., the main street, was block by burning trash bins for hours. Reports have been also posted about actions in Yannena, Iraklio [photos] Chania, Komotini, Mitilini, Xanthi, Serres, Sparta, Alexandroupolis and Volos.
