Actor David Carradine was not desperate for money, says his manager, Chuck Binder.
Binder’s statement is contrary to a report on Foxnews.com that Carradine lacked cash and had been “going around to people in the business he hadn’t seen in a long time.”
In fact, says Binder, who’s represented Carradine for six years, the actor had three films lined up to do when he returned from shooting his current one in Thailand.
And just from looking at imdb.com, Carradine is one of the few actors who seemed to always be working somewhere.
Binder says Carradine would never go to friends if he needed money anyway. “He’d find an acting gig, or a music one.”
Binder’s associate Tiffany Smith says Carradine recently purchased a new Jaguar and lived in a beautiful home in the San Fernando Valley. “He certainly did not need money.” says Smith.
The assertion in the Fox News piece that Carradine was doing public appearances for money is also absurd, Smith says. “He went to a film festival. But he doesn’t do mall openings or car washes. He had plenty of acting work.”

...We are moving ahead with the production of thriller/drama feature film "NA4U" starring the very talented and ultra-elegant AmericanBritish actress Hannah Rose Fierman ("THE LEGEND OF ZELDA") in the leading role of Julia X, Jeff Fahey ("LOST", "GRINDHOUSE") one of the nicest guys in show biz and a beloved friend, athletic and handsome Kostas Sommer ("THE BOSTON STRANGLER") who plays Ian, and many other talented up-and-coming actors like Johnny Pik, Hercules Nikolopoulos etc.

The premiere of the film is also (going to be) a big day for Atlanta, Georgia since Hannah is also a "southern belle"(raised in the suburbs of Atlanta) and a paintress that had travelled around the world. Her drawings remind us of the unique cosmos of Timothy Burton. In her most recent exhibition in NYC's "KLATCH KAFE" all her paintings were sold out. (Curiously enough, or darkly enough, most of her paintings were bought by Federal Reserve Board employees in Wall Street).

The film is based on an original story written by Michael Kokkinaris and Dimitri Vorris.

"NA4U" starts filming in early June in Long Island, NYC, and Athens.

WASHINGTON, DC – The motion picture and television production industry paid more than $40 billion in wages and $38 billion to vendors throughout the United States in 2007, according to a new report released today by the Motion Picture Association of America.
The report, the Economic Impact of the Motion Picture and Television Industry on the United States, provides a snapshot of economic impact and job creation derived from production and distribution of film and television entertainment.
“People don’t think of the business of making movies the same way they think of other American businesses such as manufacturers or large retailers. However, our industry in many ways is just like every other – we employ millions of people, we create jobs all across America, and yes, we too feel the sting of declining economic times,” said Dan Glickman, MPAA Chairman and CEO. “But just as you have to look beyond the images you see on the silver screen to fully appreciate the hundreds of working men and women that go into making a single 20-second scene from your favorite movie, if you look deeply at how movies are made you will see that there is also much to consider and, indeed, celebrate about the contributions of this uniquely American industry to our economy.”
The industry itself comprises 115,000 businesses in all 50 states.

More than 80 percent of these businesses are truly small businesses, employing fewer than 10 people.
Among the top-line findings from the report, which is based on 2007 data, the most recent year complete data is available, the motion picture and television industry was responsible for:
-- 2.5 million American jobs;

-- an average salary of $74,700 for production employees;

-- $41.1 billion in wages to workers in America;

-- $38.2 billion in payments to U.S. vendors and suppliers, small businesses and entrepreneurs;

-- $13 billion in income and sales taxes;

and

-- $13.6 billion in trade surplus.

'Wolverine' drops off list of most-pirated movies

No huge surprises on this week's list of the ten most-pirated films on BitTorrent (for week ending April 19).
The top position is held by "The Uninvited," a horror film that was just released on DVD. Recent releases tend to be popular with illegal file-sharers. "Fast and Furious" continues to be a target, while the leaked work print of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" drops out of the top 10 three weeks after its first appearance online.

The data was collected by TorrentFreak, which also reports some more interesting news in the aftermath of the Pirate Bay verdict. Several large and small BitTorrent trackers have closed up shop in "what could be the greatest voluntary tracker collapse ever."
One service left a message to its former users that "We don't have time to do anything to the code, we don't have interest to do it, we don't have any more money and the biggest reason is The Pirate Bay info."
Probably a small dent in the global piracy problem, but many in Hollywood likely will be smiling at the news.
Meanwhile, there's a controversial study now out by the Norwegian School of Management that claims that people who download free music from P2P networks are more likely to spend money on music too — ten times more likely to be exact. MARCH 25, 1821: HELLENIC WAR OF INDEPENDENCE.HISTORICAL TRUTHS...

Κάθε χρόνο τέτοια μέρα, επαναφέρονται στο προσκήνιο οι ακρότητες στην αντιμετώπιση των ιστορικών γεγονότων: πατριδοκάπηλοι και διεθνιστές, τουρκοφάγοι και οπαδοί της «ελληνοτουρκικής φιλίας», θρησκόληπτοι και δογματικοί παίζουν ταμπούρλο στις πλάτες των παιδιών, ανιστόρητοι απέκτησαν άποψη και ιστορικοί λένε μισές αλήθειες. Με αφορμή την άγρια και χωρίς αρχές «συζήτηση» που γίνεται μέσα από τα μπλογκ, τις στήλες εφημερίδων και, κυρίως, από την τηλεόραση, στεκόμαστε στο ιστορικό περίγραμμα της περιόδου που, περισσότερο από άλλες, έχει γίνει αντικείμενο καυγάδων, συκοφαντιών, παρεξηγήσεων και έχουν μετατρέψει σε έναν απίστευτο αχταρμά σοβαρά κεφάλαια της ελληνικής ιστοριογραφίας.

Το παιδομάζωμα
Ναι, λοιπόν, υπήρξε παιδομάζωμα. Όμως, ο σουλτάνος Μουράτ Δ’ (1623 - 1640) το κατάργησε, διακόσια χρόνια πριν από το ‘21. Ναι, υπήρχαν οι γενίτσαροι. Όμως, δολοφόνησαν τον σουλτάνο Ιμπραήμ Α’ (1640 - 1648, διάδοχο του Μουράτ), ξεκινώντας αιματηρή αντιπαράθεση με την εξουσία. Τελικά τους εξολόθρευσε ο σουλτάνος Μαχμούτ Β’ τον Ιούνιο του 1826, πέντε χρόνια μετά το ‘21.

Ο βίαιος εξισλαμισμός
Ναι, υπήρξαν περίοδοι βίαιου εξισλαμισμού. Όταν όμως ο σουλτάνος Ιμπραήμ Α’ εξέδωσε φετφά να σφαχτούν όλοι οι χριστιανοί της αυτοκρατορίας, οι εξηγητές του κορανίου ερμήνευσαν πως η διαταγή αντιβαίνει τις γραφές: «Ο προφήτης Μωάμεθ θέλει να υπάρχουν αλλόδοξοι υπήκοοι, ώστε να εισπράττεται ανεμπόδιστα ο κεφαλικός φόρος» (καταργήθηκε κι αυτός, λίγα χρόνια αργότερα). Κι όταν ο σουλτάνος Μαχμούτ, το 1821, ετοίμαζε θρησκευτικό πόλεμο και εξέδωσε διάταγμα για γενική σφαγή των χριστιανών, ο ανώτατος θρησκευτικός αρχηγός των οθωμανών, Χατζή Χαλίλ εφέντης, αρνήθηκε να υπογράψει τον φετφά. Και στις δυο περιπτώσεις οι χριστιανοί σώθηκαν χάρη στην επέμβαση των επικεφαλής της μωαμεθανικής θρησκείας.

Η εθνική συνείδηση
Τα ελληνικά παρέμειναν γλώσσα της Εκκλησίας και της ορθοδοξίας, με αποτέλεσμα να ταυτιστεί προοδευτικά η εθνική με τη θρησκευτική συνείδηση. Δημιουργήθηκαν έτσι, τα πρώτα χρόνια της τουρκοκρατίας, τρεις κατηγορίες πολιτών: των μουσουλμάνων που, τούρκοι ή όχι, αποτελούσαν την κρατούσα τάξη. Των ελλήνων ορθοδόξων, που αναγνωρίζονταν από τους τούρκους ως «βασίλειον έθνος» με δικαίωμα να εκπροσωπούνται και να εκπροσωπούν και τους άλλους ομόδοξους. Η τρίτη κατηγορία περιλάμβανε τους υπόλοιπους. Διωγμοί, κεφαλικός φόρος και παιδομάζωμα ποτέ δεν έλειψαν. Ούτε βίαιοι εξισλαμισμοί, αλλά και εθελοντικές ομαδικές προσχωρήσεις στη μουσουλμανική θρησκεία, προκειμένου οι ραγιάδες να βρουν την ησυχία τους. Όμως η εθνική συνείδηση διατηρήθηκε σχεδόν αναλλοίωτη, όπως μαρτυρούν οι πάνω από 170 ξεσηκωμοί και επαναστάσεις στα λιγότερο από 400 χρόνια της δουλείας.

Σχολειά κρυφά και φανερά
Υπήρξαν κρυφά σχολειά; Όχι! Για τον απλό λόγο ότι η διδασκαλία της ελληνικής γλώσσας ήταν ελεύθερη. Σε αντίθεση με τους υπόλοιπους λαούς των Βαλκανίων, οι έλληνες μορφώνονταν σε σχολεία στις πόλεις ή από τους ιερωμένους στα χωριά. Η Μεγάλη Σχολή του Γένους, που λειτουργούσε στην Κωνσταντινούπολη από το 1454 (επομένη της Άλωσης), έβγαζε συνεχώς διαπρεπείς λόγιους και παθιασμένους δασκάλους που στελέχωναν τα μικρότερα σχολεία. Οι πλούσιοι, οι κοινότητες, το Πατριαρχείο και οι ηγεμόνες των παραδουνάβιων περιοχών τα χρηματοδοτούσαν. Ο Ρήγας Βελεστινλής σπούδασε στο καλό σχολείο της Ζαγοράς. Ελληνικά βιβλία τυπώνονταν στη Δύση. Από το 1627, τυπογραφείο λειτουργούσε και στο Πατριαρχείο της Κωνσταντινούπολης. Χάρη στη μόρφωσή τους, οι έλληνες μπήκαν στον κυβερνητικό μηχανισμό. Αναρριχήθηκαν στις θέσεις του μεγάλου διερμηνέα, ουσιαστικά συμπληρωματικού υπουργού Εξωτερικών, και του διερμηνέα του στόλου, που ήταν ο πολιτικός διοικητής πλάι στον ναύαρχο. Διερμηνείς, μεταφραστές, γραμματείς στη διοίκηση ήταν θέσεις προσιτές στους έλληνες. Από το αριστοκρατικό Φανάρι προέρχονταν όσοι προορίζονταν για τα πατριαρχικά αξιώματα ή για ηγεμόνες στη Βλαχία και τη Μολδαβία. Στους αντίποδες, οι γεωργικοί πληθυσμοί δεν διέφεραν από τους αντίστοιχους των άλλων λαών, εκτός από το ότι πολλοί έλληνες αγρότες γνώριζαν γραφή και ανάγνωση.

Το σχέδιο της Φιλικής Εταιρείας
Σύμφωνα με το σχέδιο της Φιλικής Εταιρείας, αμέσως μετά τις παραδουνάβιες περιοχές θα ξεσηκωνόταν και η κυρίως Ελλάδα με επίκεντρο την Πελοπόννησο, όπου έπρεπε να φτάσουν έγκαιρα ο Αλέξανδρος Υψηλάντης και ο Παπαφλέσσας. Ο ξεσηκωμός είχε οριστεί για τις 25 Μαρτίου 1821. Ο Υψηλάντης δεν έφτασε ποτέ στην Πελοπόννησο. Ο Παπαφλέσσας ήταν εκεί από τα μέσα Δεκεμβρίου του 1820 με επίσημα χαρτιά, ως πατριαρχικός έξαρχος, παρ’ ότι οι δεσποτάδες τον αποκαλούσαν «διαβολοκαλόγερο». Και το Πατριαρχείο είχε ενημερώσει τους τούρκους ότι πήγαινε εκεί για να διευθετήσει ζητήματα των μοναστηριών. Στην Αχαΐα υπήρχαν σοβαρές κτηματικές διαφορές ανάμεσα στα μοναστήρια της Αγίας Λαύρας και των Ταξιαρχών. Χάρη στα χαρτιά του οι τούρκοι έδωσαν άδεια να οργανωθεί σύσκεψη στη Βοστίτσα (σημερινό Αίγιο) με τη συμμετοχή και των προκρίτων (Ιανουάριος 1821). Εκεί ο πατριαρχικός έξαρχος ανακοίνωσε ποιος πραγματικά ήταν και για ποιο λόγο είχε έρθει. Η επανάσταση, τους είπε, είχε προγραμματιστεί για τις 25 Μαρτίου, γιορτή του Ευαγγελισμού. Η ανακοίνωση ακούστηκε σαν κεραυνός. Μερικοί ζήτησαν αναβολή. Πρότειναν τις 23 Απριλίου που είναι του Αι-Γιώργη και τις 21 Μαΐου που είναι των Κωνσταντίνου και Ελένης. Ο Παλαιών Πατρών Γερμανός υπέβαλε έντεκα ερωτήσεις. Στο τέλος κάποιος ρώτησε: «Ποιος θα κυβερνά μετά την επανάσταση;». Ο Παπαφλέσσας απάντησε πως αυτό θα το αναλάμβαναν «όσοι είχαν πείρα». Η απάντηση δεν ικανοποίησε και οι αντιρρήσεις συνεχίστηκαν. Ο Παπαφλέσσας απείλησε πως θα ξεκινήσει με 2.000 μανιάτες, χωρίς αυτούς. Αναγκάστηκαν να δεχτούν.

Η Αγια Λαύρα και το λάβαρο
Έχοντας ζήσει τρομερές περιπέτειες, ο γιατρός Φραγκίσκος Κάρολος Λοράν Πουκεβίλ παράτησε την ιατρική κι ασχολήθηκε με το γράψιμο. Στα 1824 δημοσίευσε την «Ιστορία της αναγέννησης της Ελλάδας» με τα γεγονότα από το 1740 έως τη χρονιά της έκδοσης. Το βιβλίο κάθε άλλο παρά αμερόληπτο ήταν. Ανάμεσα στ’ άλλα μιλούσε και για το λάβαρο της ελευθερίας που δήθεν υψώθηκε στο μοναστήρι της Αγίας Λαύρας. Όμως, ο μυημένος στη Φιλική Εταιρεία μητροπολίτης δεν ήταν στην Αγία Λαύρα στις 25 Μαρτίου. Ούτε η επανάσταση ξεκίνησε από εκεί. Τα γεγονότα είχαν προλάβει τις ημερομηνίες. Ο συγγραφέας θεώρησε σημαδιακό να ξεκινήσει η επανάσταση την ημέρα του Ευαγγελισμού, όπως άλλωστε είχε αποφασιστεί από τη Φιλική Εταιρεία. Γι’ αυτό το έγραψε. Και γι’ αυτό η ελληνική πολιτεία το υιοθέτησε. Το βιβλίο αυτό άλλωστε προκάλεσε κύμα αφίξεων φιλελλήνων, προκειμένου να πολεμήσουν για την ελληνική λευτεριά.

Since I did not sign a non-disclosure agreement, I am free to tell Hollywood the following: On February 27th, Neil Stiles, the president and publisher of Variety Group, called me saying Reed Business Information CEO Tad Smith was pushing him to discuss an acquisition of my site.
Stiles and I had spoken quite a bit about Variety's cutbacks and layoffs. I'd joked with him on several occasions that RBI should buy me because I was beating the trades on so many stories. But on this day, according to my informal notes from the conversation, Stiles admitted that his company had done a survey only to find that DHD was a bigger showbiz destination site on the Internet than Variety. He also noted that Variety was embarrassed when the trade publication missed the Peter-Chernin-resigning-from-News Corp story which I had broken a few days earlier. (It took Variety several hours to get online with a matching story...) Stiles' idea was that I would remain independent, but Variety would own DHD and link to my scoops, etc. The one wrinkle he cited was that RBI's parent is getting a new CEO and it might be a while before new deals were consummated.
I can't discuss my end of the conversation (because of non-disclosure agreements I have with other interested parties). But, within a couple of days, the idea of Variety owning DHD was dead. I later learned that the trade publication's editor Peter Bart was not consulted by his overlords about the overture. Instead, he heard about it third-hand. (When axed staffer Anne Thompson wrote something nasty about me on her blog, still carried by Variety, I blurted out, "Anne, the same place that fired you is trying to buy me." Thompson immediately spilled the news to members of the Variety newsroom.)

Φαρμακοποιοί, μεγαλοδικηγόροι, συμβολαιογράφοι, γιατροί, μικροβιολογικά εργαστήρια ακόμα και μεσίτες φαίνεται ότι έπεσαν «σαν τις ακρίδες» πάνω στα δάνεια του Ταμείου Εγγυοδοτήσεων Μικρών και Πολύ Μικρών Επιχειρήσεων (ΤΕΜΠΜΕ) που δόθηκαν με την εγγύηση του ελληνικού δημόσιου τα οποία όμως αντί να τα επενδύσουν στις εταιρείες τους έκαναν κάτι πιο... ελληνικό. Αφού πήραν άτοκα τα δάνεια αυτά τα «πάρκαραν» σε προθεσμιακές καταθέσεις προς ίδιον όφελος.Σύμφωνα με τα επίσημα στοιχεία δάνεια έλαβαν μεταξύ άλλων: 450 Φαρμακοποιοί, 160 φροντιστήρια και εκπαιδευτήρια, 131 γιατροί και μικροβιολογικά εργαστήρια, 54 δικηγόροι και συμβολαιογράφοι και 4 μεσίτες.Το ερώτημα είναι πως όμως μεταξύ άλλων είναι πως κατάφεραν να πάρουν τα δάνεια αυτά για παράδειγμα οι συμβολαιογράφοι οι οποίοι όπως είναι γνωστό δεν διαθέτουν εταιρείες.Επιπροσθέτως, όπως αναφέρουν πληροφορίες, τις προηγούμενες ημέρες δεκάδες φαρμακοποιοί, γιατροί, δικηγόροι και συμβολαιογράφοι έκαναν «πάρτι» στα γκισέ των τραπεζών καθώς έκλειναν για διάστημα από 6 έως 12 μήνες τα χρήματα που έλαβαν σε προθεσμιακές καταθέσεις με υψηλά επιτόκια της τάξης του 4% έως 4,5%.Πρακτικά αυτό σημαίνει ότι οι επαγγελματίες αυτοί παρ΄ όλο που δεν είχαν καμία ανάγκη από τα χρήματα εντούτοις έλαβαν δάνεια του Ταμείου Εγγυοδοσίας σε ποσά που κυμαίνονταν από 100.000 έως 300.000 ευρώ.Έτσι σε ένα ποσό 300.000 με επιτόκιο 4% οι ετήσιοι τόκοι ανέρχονται στα 12.000 ευρώ. Εξακολουθούν τα προβλήματα Την ίδια στιγμή εξακολουθούν τα προβλήματα στις δανειοδοτήσεις των μικρών και πολύ μικρών επιχειρήσεων από το ΤΕΜΠΜΕ. Τα περισσότερα αιτήματα απορρίπτονται με «πάτημα» ότι στην πλειονοτητά τους οι αιτούντες δεν έχουν την προϋπόθεση των τριών τελευταίων κερδοφόρων χρήσεων.Υπάρχουν μάλιστα περιπτώσεις που ενώ τα αιτήματα των επιχειρηματιών απορρίφθηκαν επειδή δεν πληρούσαν τους όρους για επιδοτούμενα δάνεια, στη συνέχεια έλαβαν επιστολές από τράπεζες ότι τους έχουν προεγκριθεί δάνεια και μάλιστα μεγαλύτερου ύψους απ’ αυτά που είχαν αρχικά ζητήσει.Με τη μόνη διαφορά ότι το επιτόκιο δανεισμού είναι σαφώς υψηλότερο, και διαμορφώνεται πάνω από το 7,5%, έναντι του 3,6% που έχουν σήμερα τα επιδοτούμενα δάνεια του Ταμείου Εγγυοδοσίας.Καθώς λοιπόν συνεχίζεται η ασφυξία στην αγορά, ο πρόεδρος του ΒΕΑ (Βιοτεχνικό Επιμελητήριο Αθήνας) κ. Παύλος Ραβάνης, έχει ζητήσει να αυξηθούν κατά 500 εκατ. ευρώ τα κεφάλαια του ΤΕΜΠΜΕ, ώστε να υπάρχει η δυνατότητα χορήγησης δανείων 5 δισ. ευρώ προς τις μικρές και πολύ μικρές επιχειρήσεις, με ευνοϊκότερα κριτήρια, σε σχέση με το αρχικό πρόγραμμα.Μάλιστα το ΒΕΑ υποστηρίζει πως όσο παραμένουν αποκλεισμένες από τον τραπεζικό δανεισμό οι μικρομεσαίες επιχειρήσεις, οι δείκτες ασφυξίας στην αγορά -όπως έδειξε χθες και η άνοδος ρεκόρ στα ποσά των ακάλυπτων επιταγών- θα επιδεινώνονται.

While the standard for 3D on Blu-ray is still up for debate Panasonic could be working close with James Cameron on his "Avatar" as the first Blu-ray release to feature the company's 3D technology."Avatar" will be released in theaters this December but industry insiders says that Panasonic could be involved in releasing a 3D Blu-ray version of the movie as early as Easter 2010. Lately Panasonic have been using clips from the SIFI epic when demonstrating their 3D capabilities in a possible upcoming home market.

Hugh Jackman looks great although that Mystic Tan is a bit dark. (Is it rubbing off on his cuffs?) Now, to get ratings, he'll take his clothes off. Have you seen his bulging biceps? Howza!
OHMYGAWD, it's not the Oscars: IT'S THE TONY'S! Worst Academy Awards opening ever. None of these lyrics are funny. Alan Carr's showstopper of Snow White and Rob Lowe (remember how our jaws went slack?) is starting to look like a masterpiece in comparison.
I really feel sorry for Jackman having to perform this crapfest number. Leave it to the Academy to find a completely inappropriate way of acknowledging the financial crisis. Maybe he'll just keep the Wolverine suit on for the rest of the year so no one will recognize him.
OK, I'm going to say it: GAYEST OSCARS EVER! (Not that there's anything wrong with that. I voted against Prop 8.) But Hugh sitting on Frank Langella's lap? Talking about kissing him? After performing a song and dance number? Seriously, did producers Larry Mark and Bill Condon, or director Roger Goodman, or designer David Rockwell, and the usual team of writers like Bruce Vilanch, deliberately try to ruin Jackman's career by giving him such ridiculous material and props (a lawn chair?) to work with? More importantly, tell me how this number is going to widen the viewership for the Oscars which the Academy was desperate to accomplish tonight? As one of my commenters noted, "I would hope these younger audiences the Academy is attempting to reach this evening are smarter than this entertainment eyesore!"
This is the Oscars, people, a celebration of the movie industry, not the touring company of some low-tech Off-Off-Off Broadway musical. Where are the special effects, eye-popping visuals, and other high-tech gizmos?
As I already told you, the Oscars producers this year dissed last year's actor winners by deciding that France's Marion Cotillard (Best Actress for La Vie En Rose) and Spain's Javier Bardem (Best Supporting Actor for No Country For Old Men), Scotland's Tilda Swinton (Best Supporting Actress for Michael Clayton) and even England's Daniel Day-Lewis (Best Actor for There Will Be Blood) weren't big enough names to carry on the time-honored tradition of announcing this year's winners by themselves. So the unusual step was taken to bring onstage from a riser 5-person groups including other Best Actor or Best Supporting Actress winners from past eras in order to add more glitz and glamour to the presentations.

ΠΡΟΣ ΤΗ ΣΩΣΤΗ ΚΑΤΕΥΘΥΝΣΗ ΤΑ ΜΕΤΡΑ ΣΑΜΑΡΑ...

Περικοπές μισθών στελεχών οργανισμών που εποπτεύονται από το υπουργείο του ανακοίνωσε τη Δευτέρα ο υπουργός Πολιτισμού Αντώνης Σαμαράς, όπως επίσης και κινήσεις για την επίλυση του προβλήματος των συμβασιούχων, αλλά και για τα επίσημα εγκαίνια του Νέου Μουσείου Ακροπόλεως, τα οποία ορίστηκαν για τις 20 Ιουνίου του τρέχοντος έτους.
Στην πρώτη συνέντευξη που παραχώρησε μετά την ανάληψη των καθηκόντων του, ο Αντώνης Σαμαράς έκανε λόγο για «προσεκτική και με φειδώ διαχείριση» των οικονομικών του υπουργείου, τα οποία, για το 2009, είναι κατ' αρχήν 54 εκατ. ευρώ και άλλα τόσα προς εξεύρεση, συνολικά, δηλαδή,109 εκατ. ευρώ από τον τακτικό προϋπολογισμό (είναι γνωστό ότι ο ειδικός κωδικός του υπουργείου Πολιτισμού έχει καταργηθεί).
Σε αυτές τις ώρες οικονομικής δυσπραγίας, ο Αντώνης Σαμαράς ανακοίνωσε ότι αποφάσισε να μειώσει τις αποδοχές των στελεχών των εποπτευόμενων από το ΥΠΠΟ φορέων, ξεκινώντας από το μισθό του προέδρου του Οργανισμού Προβολής Ελληνικού Πολιτισμού (ΟΠΕΠ), από 8.200 ευρώ σε 3.000 ευρώ και του διευθύνοντος συμβούλου του ΟΠΕΠ από 7.700 ευρώ σε 6.500 ευρώ.
Έκλεισε το παράρτημα του ΟΠΕΠ στη Θεσσαλονίκη, εξοικονομώντας από αυτές τις κινήσεις 500 χιλιάδες ευρώ ετησίως και προχωρά στο κλείσιμο της Γενικής Γραμματείας Ολυμπιακής Αξιοποίησης, οι αρμοδιοτητες της οποίας θα ενταχθούν στο υπουργείο πολιτισμού.
Ακύρωσε το διαγωνισμό για τη μεταφορά του ΥΠΠΟ στο Ρέντη, όπως ακύρωσε και το διαγωνισμό για τη διεξαγωγή των εγκαινίων του Νέου Μουσείου Ακροπόλεως, που θα γίνουν τελικά στις 20 Ιουνίου, από οργανωτική επιτροπή που θα εποπτεύει ο Δημήτρης Παντερμαλής και θα συντονίζει ο Κώστας Μπούρας.
Για τους συμβασιούχους του ΥΠΠΟ και εκτός από τηn επικείμενη προκήρυξη για πρόσληψη 194 φυλάκων, μέσω ΑΣΕΠ, σε όλη την Ελλάδα, ο υπουργός Πολιτισμού δήλωσε ότι έχει δραστηριοποιηθεί για να εξασφαλίσει έγκριση για μια νέα, μεγάλη προκήρυξη εποχικών υπαλλήλων,χρήσιμων για το διευρυμένο θερινό ωράριο.
Όσον αφορά στους συμβασιούχους με εξειδικευμένη εργασία και μακρόχρονη προϋπηρεσία και οι οποίοι έχουν κάνει ασφαλιστικά μέτρα, αλλά προσκρούουν στο Ελεγκτικό Συνέδριο, το οποίο δεν αναγνωρίζει τις προσωρινές δικαστικές αποφάσεις, «με αποτέλεσμα να εργάζονται, να είναι χρήσιμοι εργαζόμενοι στα έργα του υπουργείου, αλλά να μην αμείβονται», ο κ. Σαμαράς ανέφερε ότι θεωρεί ως μόνη λύση την προκήρυξη ενός διαγωνισμού, που θα μοριοδοτεί ανάλογα με τα έτη εμπειρίας τους.
