According to official data released yesterday from the Ministry of "Citizen Protection" (the very same people that are torturing protesters in police precincts, and spraying down with chemicals like cockroaches anyone who's fighting for a decent living) in the Greek parliament, the period from January 1, 2009 - to August 23, 2012 suicide attempts reached 3,124 nationwide.
Suicide incidents totaled 677 in 2009, 830 in 2010, 927 in 2011 and 690 by August 23 of 2012.
...That's a genocide! The majority of suicides are related to poverty, austerity measures, unemployment, foreclosures. Many of the people that committed suicide were family men and women.
