IKEA, MICHELIN, REGENCY CAZINO PAY ZERO REAL ESTATE PROPERTY TAX IN GREECE

Mετά την χθεσινή συνέντευξη τύπου που έδωσε ο πρόεδρος της ΓΕΝΟΠ-ΔΕΗ, κ. Νίκος Φωτόπουλος σχετικά με την καταγγελία ότι έχει στοιχεία πως «το χαράτσι της ΔΕΗ το πληρώνουν μόνο τα κορόιδα», έδωσε στην δημοσιότητα την λίστα με τις επιχειρήσεις που έτυχαν… ειδικής μεταχείρισης από την ΔΕΗ.

Ο κ. Φωτόπουλος κατήγγειλε τον εμπαιγμό των Ελλήνων πολιτών που κλήθηκαν να καταβάλουν το δυσβάσταχτο «χαράτσι», την ώρα που μεγάλες επιχειρήσεις είτε πλήρωσαν μειωμένο τέλος ακινήτων -ακόμη και σε ποσοστό 60%- είτε εξαιρέθηκαν του σχετικού μέτρου. Σε άλλες περιπτώσεις δε επιχειρήσεις εμφανίζουν μειωμένο αριθμό του εμβαδού του κτηρίου, αποκομίζοντας κέρδη εκατοντάδων χιλιάδων ευρώ!
Ενδεικτική είναι η περίπτωση τεσσάρων κτηρίων του επιχειρηματία Μπάμπη Βωβού, επί της λεωφόρου Κηφισίας. Στην πρώτη παροχή, σύμφωνα με τα στοιχεία της ΓΕΝΟΠ – ΔΕΗ, τα τ.μ από 15.578 έγιναν 9.985 και ο επιχειρηματίας γλίτωνε 196.585 ευρώ χαράτσι. Στη δεύτερη παροχή τα τ.μ από 33.705 έγιναν 19.981 και ο επιχειρηματίας γλίτωσε 446.626 χαράτσι. Στην τρίτη παροχή τα τετραγωνικά από 20.956 έγιναν 9.728 και ο επιχειρηματίας γλίτωσε 310.364 ευρώ. Στην τέταρτη παροχή τα τετραγωνικά από 22.173 έγιναν 12.844 και ο επιχειρηματίας γλίτωσε 296.891 ευρώ.

Πέραν των παραπάνω στη συνέντευξη Τύπου οι εκπρόσωποι της ΓΕΝΟΠ – ΔΕΗ έθεσαν τα παρακάτω ερωτήματα: 

1η Περίπτωση: Πώς γίνεται το REGENCY καζίνο στην Θέρμη Θεσσαλονίκης, ενώ το 2011 χρεώνεται με ΕΕΤΗΔΕ με βάση τα τετραγωνικά του, το 2012 μηδενίζονται τα τετραγωνικά του, με αποτέλεσμα να του επιστρέφεται και το ποσό που είχε χρεωθεί το 2011; Ανήκει στις Ουρσουλίνες; Έχει ανάγκη στήριξης; Είναι φιλόπτωχο ταμείο;

2η Περίπτωση: Πώς γίνεται και γιατί το ΚΑΖΙΝΟ ΠΑΡΝΗΘΑΣ ενώ αρχικώς πλήρωσε, δεν πληρώνει ΕΕΤΗΔΕ; Ανήκει στην εκκλησία; Έχει ανάγκη στήριξης;

3η Περίπτωση: Πώς γίνεται και ο τηλεοπτικός σταθμός ΣΚΑΙ δεν πληρώνει καθόλου χαράτσι; Είναι φιλανθρωπικό Ίδρυμα; Είναι βιομηχανία; Είναι εκκλησία;

4η Περίπτωση: Πώς γίνεται και τα εκπαιδευτήρια ΚΩΣΤΕΑ – ΓΕΙΤΟΝΑ δεν πληρώνουν χαράτσι; Έχει ανάγκη φιλανθρωπίας ο κ. Γείτονας;

5η Περίπτωση: Γιατί ενώ ο εκδοτικός Οργανισμός Λαμπράκη και η εφημερίδα Ελευθεροτυπία, μετά το δώρο Βενιζέλου, πληρώνουν μειωμένο χαράτσι; Ο εκδοτικός οίκος Πήγασος δεν πληρώνει καθόλου; Αν η απάντηση είναι διότι έχει βιομηχανικό ρεύμα, τι διαφορετικό βγάζει – κάνει – εκδίδει από τον ΔΟΛ και την Ελευθεροτυπία που να του δίνει την δυνατότητα να έχει βιομηχανικό ρεύμα;

6η Περίπτωση: Πώς γίνεται και τα ελαστικά ΜΙΣΕΛΕΝ δεν πληρώνουν χαράτσι; Παράγονται εδώ;

7η Περίπτωση: Πώς γίνεται και το ΙΚΕΑ στα Σπάτα δεν πληρώνει; Οι Σουηδοί έχουν δική τους οικονομική ζώνη;

Fifteen anti-fascist protesters arrested in Athens during a clash with supporters of the neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn have said they were tortured in the Attica General Police Directorate (GADA) – the Athens equivalent of Scotland Yard – and subjected to what their lawyer describes as an Abu Ghraib-style humiliation.

Members of a second group of 25 who were arrested after demonstrating in support of their fellow anti-fascists the next day said they were beaten and made to strip naked and bend over in front of officers and other protesters inside the same police station.

Several of the protesters arrested after the first demonstration on Sunday 30 September told the Guardian they were slapped and hit by a police officer while five or six others watched, were spat on and "used as ashtrays" because they "stank", and were kept awake all night with torches and lasers being shone in their eyes.

Some said they were burned on the arms with a cigarette lighter, and they said police officers videoed them on their mobile phones and threatened to post the pictures on the internet and give their home addresses to Golden Dawn, which has a track record of political violence.

Golden Dawn's popularity has surged since the June election, when it won 18 seats in parliament; it recently came third in several opinion polls, behind the conservative New Democracy and the leftwing party Syriza.

Last month the Guardian reportedthat victims of crime have been told by police officers to seek help from Golden Dawn, who then felt obliged to make donations to the group.

One of the two women among them said the officers used crude sexual insults and pulled her head back by the hair when she tried to avoid being filmed. The protesters said they were denied drinking water and access to lawyers for 19 hours. "We were so thirsty we drank water from the toilets," she said.

One man with a bleeding head wound and a broken arm that he said had been sustained during his arrest alleged the police continued to beat him in GADA and refused him medical treatment until the next morning. Another said the police forced his legs apart and kicked him in the testicles during the arrest.

"They spat on me and said we would die like our grandfathers in the civil war," he said.

A third said he was hit on the spine with a Taser as he tried to run away; the burn mark is still visible. "It's like an electric shock," he said. "My legs were paralysed for a few minutes and I fell. They handcuffed me behind my back and started hitting and kicking me in the ribs and the head. Then they told me to stand up, but I couldn't, so they pulled me up by the chain while standing on my shin. They kept kicking and punching me for five blocks to the patrol car."

The protesters asked that their names not be published, for fear of reprisals from the police or Golden Dawn.

A second group of protesters also said they were "tortured" at GADA. "We all had to go past an officer who made us strip naked in the corridor, bend over and open our back passage in front of everyone else who was there," one of them told the Guardian. "He did whatever he wanted with us – slapped us, hit us, told us not to look at him, not to sit cross-legged. Other officers who came by did nothing.

"All we could do was look at each other out of the corners of our eyes to give each other courage. He had us there for more than two hours. He would take phone calls on his mobile and say, 'I'm at work and I'm fucking them, I'm fucking them up well'. In the end only four of us were charged, with resisting arrest. It was a day out of the past, out of the colonels' junta."

In response to the allegations, Christos Manouras, press spokesman for the Hellenic police, said: "There was no use of force by police officers against anyone in GADA. The Greek police examine and investigate in depth every single report regarding the use of violence by police officers; if there are any responsibilities arising, the police take the imposed disciplinary action against the officers responsible. There is no doubt that the Greek police always respect human rights and don't use violence."

Sunday's protest was called after a Tanzanian community centre was vandalised by a group of 80-100 people in a central Athens neighbourhood near Aghios Panteleimon, a stronghold of Golden Dawn where there have been many violent attacks on immigrants.

According to protesters, about 150 people rode through the neighbourhood on motorcycles handing out leaflets. They said the front of the parade encountered two or three men in black Golden Dawn T-shirts, and a fight broke out. A large number of police immediately swooped on them from the surrounding streets.

According to Manouras: "During the motorcycle protest there were clashes between demonstrators and local residents. The police intervened to prevent the situation from deteriorating and restore public order. There might have been some minor injuries, during the clashes between residents, protesters and police."

Marina Daliani, a lawyer for one of the Athens 15, said they had been charged with "disturbing the peace with covered faces" (because they were wearing motorcycle helmets), and with grievous bodily harm against two people. But, she said, no evidence of such harm had so far been submitted. They have now been released on bail of €3,000 (£2,400) each.

Βαριές ποινές στους 21 εμπλεκόμενους για την υπόθεση της Αιξωνής

Βαριές ποινές, ισοβίων και πολυετών καθείρξεων, επέβαλε το Τριμελές Εφετείο Κακουργημάτων στους κατηγορούμενους για την υπόθεση καταπάτησης μεγάλης δασικής δημόσιας έκτασης στην Αιξωνή Γλυφάδας.
Μετά από πολύμηνη διαδικασία, το δικαστήριο με την ετυμηγορία του κατένειμε την ποινική ευθύνη που αναλογεί σε καθέναν από τους 21 κριθέντες ενόχους και επέβαλε ποινές ισοβίων και δεκάδων ετών πρόσκαιρων καθείρξεων, για την υπόθεση ιδιοποίησης, με αγοραπωλησίες και μεταβιβάσεις, μιας τεράστιας δασικής έκτασης που ανήκε στο Δημόσιο.
Στο εδώλιο για την υπόθεση κάθισαν 26 κατηγορούμενοι, εκ των οποίων το δικαστήριο κήρυξε αθώους τρεις δικηγόρους και μία επιχειρηματία, ενώ ανέστειλε την διαδικασία για μία συμβολαιογράφο. Από τους 21 κηρυχθέντες ενόχους, οι έξι είναι συμβολαιογράφοι, οι πέντε δικηγόροι, οι δύο επιχειρηματίες, ένας πολιτικός μηχανικός και οι υπόλοιποι επτά ιδιώτες. Η υπόθεση απασχόλησε την δικαιοσύνη όταν στο πλαίσιο των ερευνών για το λεγόμενο «παραδικαστικό κύκλωμα» εντοπίστηκε δικαστική απόφαση που είχε εκδώσει η πρώην Πρωτοδίκης Αντωνία Ηλία, με την οποία επιτρεπόταν να γίνει μεταγραφή συμβολαίων μεταβίβασης σε δύο Κύπριους επιχειρηματίες της επίμαχης έκτασης. Η συγκεκριμένη απόφαση προκάλεσε έρευνα, καθώς για την περιοχή της Αιξωνής είχε εκδοθεί εισαγγελική εγκύκλιος που απαγόρευε στις αρμόδιες υπηρεσίες να προχωρούν σε μεταγραφές συμβολαίων, αφού η έκταση ανήκε στο Δημόσιο και είχε κηρυχθεί αναδασωτέα το 1939.

Κριθέντες ένοχοι από το δικαστήριο είναι οι:
- Οι συμβολαιογράφοι: Σωτηρία Κατσαγιάννη, Δημήτρης Μητρέλης, Κωνσταντίνος Μητρέλης, Σταύρος Παπαδογεωργής, Δέσποινα Σεχιώτη, Αθηνά Τσατσαρώνη
- Οι δικηγόροι: Βασίλης Αγιασοφίτης, Αλέξανδρος Λυκουρέζος, Σπήλιος Παπαθανασόπουλος, Δημήτρης Παρασκευόπουλος, Πέτρος Σφαλακάτος,
- Ο μηχανικός Θωμάς Παλαιογιάννης
- Οι επιχειρηματίες Τζων Κωνσταντινίδης και Κωνσταντίνος Γεωργίου
Οι ιδιώτες: Θεόδωρος Δουσαϊτης, Κωνσταντίνος Μανιόπουλος, Γεώργιος Μπασούκος, Ιωάννης Σκιτζής, Χρήστος Τοπούζης, Αναστάσιος Πρίτσας και Δημήτρης Εμμανουηλίδης.Το δικαστήριο επέβαλε ποινή 5 φορές ισοβίων και επιπλέον 19 χρόνων και 5 μηνών κάθειρξη στον δικηγόρο Δημήτρη Παρασκευόπουλο, ποινή ισόβιας κάθειρξης και επιπλέον κάθειρξης 8 ετών στον επιχειρηματία Τζων Κωνσταντινίδη και επίσης ισόβια και επιπλέον 23 ετών κάθειρξη στον επιχειρηματία Κωνσταντίνο Γεωργίου.
Στον δικηγόρο Αλέξανδρο Λυκουρέζο επιβλήθηκε ποινή 5ετούς φυλάκισης και στον συνάδελφο του Βασίλη Αγιασοφίτη φυλάκιση 4 ετών και 9 μηνών.
Σε όλους τους υπόλοιπους κατηγορούμενους επιβλήθηκαν πρόσκαιρες ποινές κάθειρξης από 10 έως 18 ετών.
Στους καταδικασθέντες που δεν αντιμετωπίζουν ισόβια, δόθηκε ανασταλτικό αποτέλεσμα στην έφεση και θα παραμείνουν ελεύθεροι μέχρι την δευτεροβάθμια δίκη, με την επιβολή των περιοριστικών όρων της απαγόρευσης εξόδου από την χώρα και της υποχρεωτικής εμφάνισης ανά τακτά διαστήματα σε αστυνομικό τμήμα.

Το mega deal η πρόταση εξαγοράς της  Eurobank από την Εθνική τράπεζα έκρυβε σοβαρότατες εκπλήξεις, σοβαρότατες αρνητικές εκπλήξεις.
Η σοβαρότερη όλων ήταν ότι το deal δεν έχει γίνει με όρους ισονομίας. Εδώ αποκαλύπτεται ότι ο βασικός μέτοχος ο Λάτσης παρέδωσε την τράπεζα στην Εθνική τράπεζα και οι όροι ήταν ξεκάθαρα υπέρ της Εθνικής και ξεκάθαρα εις βάρος της Eurobank και των μετόχων της. 

Ποια είναι τα ψύχραιμα εξαγόμενα συμπεράσματα;
1)Ο Λάτσης με ποσοστό 44,5% πουλάει άνευ όρων τη συμμετοχή του.
Πως προκύπτει αυτό; Από την σχέση ανταλλαγής 58 μετοχές Εθνικής προς 100 μετοχές Eurobank καθώς και κυρίως από το ειδικό βάρος της Eurobank στο νέο σχήμα.
Το νέο σχήμα θα αποτελείται σε ποσοστό 25% η Eurobank έναντι 75% Εθνικής τράπεζας.
Η σχέση αυτή είναι άκρως δυσμενής για την Eurobank όταν το ενεργητικό της Eurobank είναι 74 δις και της Εθνικής 104 δις ευρώ.
Είναι ξεκάθαρο ότι οι όροι ανταλλαγής ήταν άκρως δυσμενείς για την Eurobank και τους μετόχους της.
2)Ο Λάτσης με την κίνηση του αυτή ως βασικός μέτοχος της μεγαλύτερης ιδιωτικής τράπεζας στην Ελλάδα έδειξε ότι αποχωρεί οριστικά από το ελληνικό  banking.
Πως προκύπτει αυτό;
Ο Λάτσης κατέχει συνολικά το 44,5% του μετοχικού κεφαλαίου της Eurobank.
Με βάση την σχέση ανταλλαγής το ποσοστό του θα περιοριστεί στο 11%.
Όμως θα ακολουθήσει και η ανακεφαλαιοποίηση και το ποσοστό της οικογένειας Λάτση θα μειωθεί στο 2%.
Το υφιστάμενο 44,5% θα εξελιχθεί λίαν συντόμως σε 2%.
Τα δεδομένα συγκλίνουν στην άποψη ότι ο Λάτσης εγκαταλείπει το banking και ουσιαστικά με αυτό τον τρόπο περνάει ένα μήνυμα ότι το banking έχει τελειώσει στην Ελλάδα. Το μήνυμα αυτό όμως πρέπει να αποκωδικοποιηθεί σωστά γιατί αν έχει τελειώσει το banking από την Ελλάδα τότε όλες οι τράπεζες καλούνται να αντιμετωπίσουν αυτή την πρόκληση και όχι μόνο ο βασικός μέτοχος της Eurobank.
3)Η σχέση ανταλλαγής αλλά και οι όροι της δημόσιας πρότασης της Εθνικής τράπεζας δεν ευνοούν τον μέτοχο της Eurobank.
Οι μέτοχοι της Eurobank τυγχάνουν πολύ δυσμενούς μεταχείρισης.
Όμως δεν φαίνεται να υπάρχει καμία ουσιαστική μεταχείριση και για το management της Eurobank.
Η Εθνική επιβάλλει τα στελέχη της ενώ για την Eurobank θα ισχύσει οι καλύτεροι από τους δύο θα συμμετάσχουν στο νέο σχήμα.
Η διοίκηση της Eurobank πρέπει να αξιοποιηθεί, θα είναι λάθος στρατηγικό και ουσιαστικό να μην αξιοποιηθεί.
4)Το όνομα του νέου σχήματος όμιλος Εθνικής αποδεικνύει ότι η αφομοίωση της Eurobank θα έχει τα χαρακτηριστικά της εξαφάνισης.
Η Εργασίας εξαφανίστηκε από την Eurobank και η Eurobank εξαφανίζεται από την Εθνική τράπεζα.
5)Υπάρχουν σοβαρότατες ανησυχίες σε πολιτικό και επιχειρηματικό επίπεδο για το deal.
Σε πολιτικό επίπεδο ενώ το deal εξυπηρετεί την Κυβέρνηση και καθιστά την Εθνική απόλυτα παντοδύναμη μπορεί να προκαλέσει κλιμάκωση της έντασης καθώς μπορεί να αναφερθεί ότι η κρατική Εθνική εξαγοράζει την ιδιωτική Eurobank ή η Εθνική σώζει την Eurobank.
Όμως και με επιχειρηματικούς όρους το deal αυτό έχει ρίσκο γιατί θα πρέπει η αφομοίωση της Eurobank να γίνει με τέτοιο τρόπο ώστε να μην προκληθούν σοβαρότατες συγκρούσεις στο εσωτερικό των δύο τραπεζών.

Τι κερδίζει η Εθνική τράπεζα 

Η Εθνική τράπεζα τι κερδίζει το προφανές. Όχι μόνο μέγεθος όπως πολλοί θα ισχυριστούν αλλά αποκτά τα χαρακτηριστικά της απόλυτης κρατικής τράπεζας που απορροφά μια ιδιωτική και συνεχίζει να διαδραματίζει τον μείζονα ρόλο στην οικονομία.
Η Εθνική στηρίζει τον κυβερνητικό σχεδιασμό και την προσπάθεια της Ελλάδος να αποτρέψει την χρεοκοπία (...)

«Η Tρόικα οδηγεί τη χώρα σε χρεοκοπία, καθώς η καθυστέρηση της καταβολής της επόμενης δόσης του δανείου είναι απολύτως αναίτια».
Την «επιθετική» αυτή επισήμανση κάνει στο Εβδομαδιαίο Δελτίο της η Διεύθυνση Οικονομικών Μελετών της Alpha, «σε μια déjà-vu κατάσταση που θυμίζει μέρες Οκτωβρίου 2011, η χώρα ωθείται σε ακόμη μεγαλύτερη ύφεση» όπως χαρακτηριστικά εξηγεί.  
Χαρακτηριστικά, η Alpha Bank αναφέρει τα εξής:
«Πέρασε το καλοκαίρι, μπήκε ο Οκτώβριος και η Τρόικα εξακολουθεί να υποβάλλει την Ελλάδα σε τεστ κοπώσεως προσαρμογής και σε ασκήσεις ταμειακής αντοχής. Σε μια déjà-vu κατάσταση που θυμίζει μέρες Οκτ.΄11, η χώρα ωθείται σε ακόμη μεγαλύτερη ύφεση με την καθυστέρηση καταβολής της δόσης των € 31,5 δις. Η καθυστέρηση αυτή είναι απολύτως αναίτια για τους ακόλουθους λόγους:  
 α) Από το Προσχέδιο του Π2013 που μόλις δημοσιεύτηκε προκύπτει πέραν πάσης αμφιβολίας η απολύτως ικανοποιητική και σύμφωνα με τους στόχους εκτέλεση του Π2012, όπως άλλωστε είχε ήδη γίνει εμφανές και από την εκτέλεση του Π2012 στο 8μηνο Ιαν.-Αυγούστου 2012. Prop 37: Put a Stop to Misleading Labels that Affect Your Health

In November, Californians will have the opportunity to require food manufacturers to tell you whether the foods you purchase contain genetically modified ingredients. Proposition 37, if approved by the voters of California, will have the following effects:

• It will require food manufacturers to label raw or processed foods sold to consumers if they contain genetically modified ingredients.
• It will prohibit the use of the label “natural” on foods containing these GMOs.
• It will exempt certified organic foods, those unintentionally produced with genetically engineered ingredients, alcoholic beverages, and restaurant foods.

At its heart, Proposition 37 is a right to know law. According to theCenter for Food Safety, approximately 70 percent of processed foods available at the grocery store contain at least one genetically modified ingredient. Currently, no laws exist in this country requiring food manufacturers to disclose on labels or otherwise whether their products contain genetically modified ingredients. The California law is the first of its kind, and has implications for other states hoping to follow suit.

In the United States, we’re behind the rest of the world. According to theProposition 37 campaign, 50 countries already require labeling of genetically modified foods. So we’re not just behind…we’re super behind (Beauty Detox readers in other countries, see what your country’s policy is!). This law would require food manufacturers to do in the United States what they do elsewhere around the world: inform their customers they are purchasing foods with genetically modified ingredients.

Misleading Labels

Current labeling laws make it difficult for consumers to discern whether the foods they purchase to feed their families contain genetically modified ingredients. One of the Proposition’s provisions is a prohibition on use of the word “natural” on package labels of foods containing genetically modified ingredients.

Back in April, “natural” food giant, Kashi, came under fire because they labeled products as “natural” in spite of the fact many of their products contained genetically modified soy.  The use of the term “natural” misled consumers into believing they were purchasing unadulterated products with wholesome ingredients.

Because the term “natural” isn’t regulated by the USDA, many food manufacturers use it with impunity, implying their products contain only wholesome and healthful ingredients. Proposition 37 would require manufacturers to drop claims of “natural” from their labels if the product contained genetically modified ingredients.

Biotech Giants Support and Fund “NO” on Prop 37 Campaign

While Proposition 37 has tremendous grassroots support among the people of California, the no campaign has multiple heavy hitters in its camp who have donated millions of dollars to defeat the proposed legislation. Here is a list of the top financial backers of the no campaign:

• Monsanto Corporation $7.1 million
• EI Dupont De Nemours & Co. $4.9 million
• Dow Agrisciences $2 million
• Bayer Cropscience $2 million
• BASF Plant Science $2 million
• Pepsico, Inc. $1.7 million
• Nestle USA $1.17 million
• Coca-Cola North America $1.64 million
• Conagra Foods $1.08 million

These massive amounts of campaign money come from some of the largest corporations in America, which have a tremendous financial stake in you not knowing what’s in your food. In fact, funding for the Yes on Proposition 37 campaign is just shy of $4 million, while funding for the No on Proposition 37 campaign exceeds $32 million.

Why It Matters

It’s all about choice and the ability to make informed decisions in your own best interests. Regardless of one’s personal feelings about the safety of genetically modified foods, you have the right to know what you are feeding your family. Only with the knowledge of the ingredients your food contains can you make informed decisions. Once you know what’s in your food, you can research its safety and determine for yourself whether it is something you wish to consume and feed to your family. The giant biotechnology corporations such as Monsanto and Dow want to keep you from doing just that, lest you choose to opt out of purchasing what is, for them, a huge source of profits.

The opposition to this beneficial proposition has a huge war chest. Who’s donating money? You might be surprised to learn that a number of organic brands have large corporate parents fighting proposition 37 and donating to defeating it, which include Naked, Odwalla, Kashi, Morning Star Farms, Larabar, Muir Glen, Silk and Horizon among many others. Support comes from smaller organic producers without giant corporations behind them, such as Nutiva, Amy’s, and Nature’s Path.

LOU Ye 婁燁's French-China co-production Mystery 浮城谜事 (pictured) has received the most nominations for this year's Golden Horse Awards 金馬獎.

Feature films directed by Mainland directors received 37 nominations, compared to 35 for Taiwan-based directors and 25 for Hong Kong directors. The jury — which are primarily local critics and film-makers — typically favours Taiwan films, notably in the newcomer categories.

Mystery competes for best feature film with another Mainland film, GAO Qunshu 高群書's Beijing Blues 神探亨特張. Also nominated in the top category are YANG Ya-che楊雅喆's Gf*Bf 女朋友 男朋友 and, from Hong Kong, Johnnie TO 杜琪峰's Life Without Principle 奪命金 and LO Chi-leung 羅志良's The Bullet Vanishes 消失的子彈.

Lou, Gao, Yang and To also compete for best director, where they are joined by Doze NIU 鈕承澤 for Taiwan-China co-production Love 愛. Six local Taiwan directors have the new director category for themselves, including Hero LIN 林世勇, TSAI Yueh-hsun蔡岳勳 and CHANG Rong-ji 張榮吉.

Hong Kong actors dominate the actor categories with nominations for Nick CHEUNG 張家輝 (Nightfall 大追捕), LAU Ching-wan 劉青雲 (Life Without Principle), Chapman TO杜汶澤 (Vulgaria 低俗喜劇) and Nicholas TSE 謝霆鋒 (The Viral Factor 逆戰). They are joined by Taiwan's Joseph CHANG 張孝全, recognised for his role in GF*BF.

Other Mainland films recognised in the nominations shortlist include GUAN Hu 管虎'sDesign of Death 殺生 with six nominations, TENG Huatao 滕華濤's Love Is Not Blind失戀３３天 with five nominations and WANG Quanan 王全安's White Deer Plain 白鹿原with four nominations.

Mainland films that were submitted but received no nominations include The Last Supper 王的盛宴, People Mountain People Sea 人山人海 and Guns and Roses 黃金大劫案. Organisers previously informed the Taiwan that ZHANG Yimou 張藝謀's The Flowers of War 金陵十三釵 was not submitted for consideration.

Hong Kong films that were submitted by not shortlisted include The Great Magician 大魔術師, and Love in the Buff 春嬌與志明. Taiwan films that failed to secure nominations include Young Dudes 騷人, The Fierce Wife 犀利人妻最終回：幸福男．不難 and Westgate Tango 西門町.

No films from Singapore or Malaysia received nominations. All nominated films receive a single public performance, which will likely represent the only screenings of several Chinese films in Taiwan. Only ten Mainland films are permitted to open in Taiwan each year, and domestic festivals largely ignore the huge market on their doorstep despite its increasing importance to Taiwan cinema.

Mystery, which premiered in the Cannes Film Festival's Un Certain Regard sidebar, opens in China on 19 Oct, however Lou Ye has said that he would remove his name from the film because of cuts he was required to make. Beijing Blues won a best director prize at the Shanghai International Film Festival 上海國際電影節 in June.

The 49th Golden Horse Awards ceremony will be held on 24 Nov in Taiwan's Yilan County.

Update: Six hours after announcing the nominations list, the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee 台北金馬影展執行委員會 disqualified Mystery andBeijing Blues in the original film song category. Films produced by Taiwan- and China-based directors now equal 35 each.
