Όπως μεταδίδει το πρακτορείο Reuters οι ΗΠΑ ζητούν να νοικιάσουν ένα εμπορικό σκάφος για να μεταφέρουν εκατοντάδες τόνους όπλων και πυρομαχικών μέσω της Ελλάδας στο Ισραήλ. Η Διοίκηση Θαλάσσιων Μεταφορών (Military Sealift Command (MSC)) δήλωσε ότι το πλοίο θα μεταφέρει 325 containers σε δυο ξεχωριστά δρομολόγια από τον Αστακό στο ισραηλινό λιμάνι του Ashdod μέσα στον Ιανουάριο. Στο υλικό συμπεριλαμβάνονται GPS-guided Small Diameter Bombs, GBU-39, όπως αυτή της φωτογραφίας.

- Vessel(s) Required: Request US or foreign flag container vessel (coaster) to move approximately 168 TEU’s in each of two consecutive voyages both containing ammunition. In accordance with the Cargo Preference Act of 1904 and Section IIIA.3 of the Voluntary Intermodal Sealift Agreement (VISA) (see 69 FEDERAL REGISTER 62898, Nov 7, 2007, or most current reference), preference will be given to U.S. flag vessels and VISA participants.
- Vessel(s) Required: Request a U.S. flag or foreign flag, self-sustaining LO/LO or RO/LO combination vessel for an approximate 42 Day Time Charter with a minimum carrying capacity of 989 TEU(s) of cargo. Vessel shall have IMDG certification and crew HAZMAT training. Cargo is containerized ammunition and other containerized ammunition supplies. Vessel must be capable of carrying ~5.8 Mill Lbs Net Explosive Weight. Minimum speed of the vessel is 15 knots. In accordance with the Cargo Preference Act of 1904 and Section IIIA.3 of the Voluntary Intermodal Sealift Agreement (VISA) (see 72 FEDERAL REGISTER 62898, Nov 7, 2007, or most current reference), preference will be given to U.S. flag vessels and VISA participants.
